New Years Day is a traditional time to set goals, which are called resolutions.  Many people do create resolutions, which almost always fall to the wayside in no time flat.  This is because people make resolutions without having any real skin in the game. Here’s an example:

“I’ll join a gym and lose 20 pounds by Valentine’s day.”  Uh, yeah, right.  LIke that will heppen, even while your home treadmill earns its keep as a coat rack.

But writers should be different, because writing is all about having skin in the game, all about creating goals.  Here’s an example.  In early December, 2017, as I was wrapping up helping a client write her dream book, I made a resolution to write a book on writing by December 31st.  That was a big goal, but I did it – I wrote the book I wanted to write, and I got it done.  But someohow, I forgot to include, as separate goals, getting the book edited for publication, designed for publication and … wait for it … published.

So here is my personal resolution for 2019.  This book of mine, Write Now! (I’ve blogged much of the content here, so you can see what it’s about), will be edited, designed and published in 2019.  This is not going to be one of those “resolutions” people make and forget – this is my commitment to me, with you as my commitment partner.

So, what commitment (not resolution, commitment) are you going to make, as a writer, for 2019?
